Message of the MEC of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mr Dan Kgothule
MACUFE 2010 is upon us. The theme for this year’s MACUFE is “Re monateng kaofela”. This shows that our aim is nothing short of providing you with top quality entertainment. We as Free Staters pride ourselves in staging this festival, as we are able to welcome and provide all our visitors with top class hospitality and entertainment. We bring you the best of the best in all genres.
In the field of performing arts you will get the best in international music, such as Jonathan Butler, Salif Keita, Gerald Albright, Andreas Vollenveider and Puff Johnson. We also are very proud to introduce on the Main Festival stage our local group Khaya, which has attained national status and, in keeping with MACUFE tradition, we are once again introducing the best of the Free State in Max-Hoba, Thiwe, Ntshiwa and many more artists in other art forms. We hope that you will also enjoy the Brenda Fassie Musical in our theatre line-up.
MACUFE is the only festival that has the following elements:
• a wide variety of cultural and artistic events aimed at presenting a festival that truly reflects the multi-cultural society represented within South Africa • nation building • providing not only social benefits, but also economic spin-offs
To our first-time visitors, we welcome you, and to our loyal supporters, we appreciate your patronage over the years. We hope to see you all again next year. Enjoy MACUFE 2010.
Dan Kgothule MEC: Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation
